Communications services companies ticked up amid deal activity.
Verizon Communications agreed to buy back some of the fiber-optic lines it sold off nearly a decade ago through a $9.6 billion deal for Frontier Communications, which will reunite it with its former FiOS business.
Frontier, cobbled together by several deals over the years, has more than 2 million fiber-optic connections across 25 states.
The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority is probing whether TicketMaster, a unit of Live Nation Entertainment, "engaged in unfair commercial practices" when hiking prices for the Oasis's 2025 reunion tour.
